Sweetwaters
From the blog little more than a placeholder on Thu Aug 17 2006 at 10:31 PM
Today's destination was Sweetwaters, a small coffee shop on West Fulton, a little further west than Hungry Heart Cafe. It's a distinctive place, with wood panelled walls, faux-antique lamps, lots of framed prints and posters, and some appropriately ugly sideboards. read more...
Wonderful

Great service. Large tables, ample power supplies, good connection... This is my new hang-out. Very impressed.

Wow... so early or should I say so late to post the photo of the day? This photo was taken at my new favorite cafe in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Sweetwaters Coffee House located near the downtown GVSU campus on Fulton. read more...

The name of this coffee shop is now called "the bitter end"
good overall

great location... great hours... a bit busy around 10pm-midnight on weekdays. Makes getting work done a bit difficult. Avoid this location during the evening hours if your goal is to get work done! lots of GVSU students make this their hangout at night. come in around midnight and the place has slowed down a bit. had a difficult time connecting a couple of times... but that didn't change the quality of the beverages and atmosphere.

As far as I know, The Bitter End is open 24/7. I've been there as late as 3:00 AM.
Excellent place!

The admosphere is nice, and the place is nice and warm. . . . Excellent service, great coffee, and fair prices. Fast internet, too. Board games available. There is an urn that reads, "Ashes of difficult customers." :)
I wish this place was in my town!!!
by Tom C. on Fri Aug 18 2006 at 03:50 PM
I live in Greenville, Mi. About 40 mins. N.E. of G.R. These are my old stomping grounds, I grew up a few blocks from here. I spent a couple weeks in town helping a sick family member, and ended up pulling a couple all-nighters doing homework down there. The servers are GREAT!!! Especially the gal doing midnights (I think her name is Sheri), and the coffee's strong (just the way I like it). I will definately stop in again when I am in town.

Must try the Ghirardelli Mocha! Best ever.
I fly from Vegas to come to this shop...
by Ann Bos on Wed May 02 2007 at 12:00 AM
well, actually I come in from Vegas regularly to see a few relatives but my Mom and I hit this coffeeshop now and then. Grand Rapids (my hometown/ I will soon be returning there from Vegas) has such a great choice of independent coffeehouses (such as this one) verses Las Vegas which is pretty much taken over with (yuuuukkk) Starbucks. Actually havent been to this coffeehouse in about half a year, hope they are still there on Fulton! I enjoy the coffee here and the decor.
HI TOM!

Thanks for your sweet comments about me and BitterEnd. Yes, I still do work there on occasion, but more often at our other shop (Noshville). I appreciated your company during those long long overnights of working last summer, and I was just thinking about you a few weeks ago. To everyone else: We are open 24/7. Come visit us. We'd love to serve you the best coffee in town!
Throw-back aesthetic

Bit of a roaring-20s feel - small and cozy. Probably best for late nights and cold afternoons. Consistent wifi, and good coffee.
